Liberation Passage

Activity

By birth, herbs, repeating sacred words, austerities, or absorption the powers are born. The transformation of a kind of birth is by the source of nature filling in. Indirect causes do not cause transformations of the source of nature; instead, obstacles are broken through, and that the way a farmer does. A created mind results from the sense of separate self alone. Activity differences are caused by the one mind being many. Of these, the meditation-born is without impressions. Actions are neither white nor black for a yogi; they are threefold for others. From those, the fruition that follows is only from tendencies. Birth, place, and time are separate, although in a sequence, so memory and impressions are of one formlessness. To those, there is no beginning, and the desire to live is perpetual. Cause, motive, basis, and objective hold these together; absent, that is absent.

Objects

Past and future exist in their own natures, paths having different characteristics. Those, manifest or subtle, are composed of the qualities. Unity of transformations makes the essence of an object. Objects are the same yet the mind varies, so they are of different natures. And not dependent on one mind, because if an object were not cognized by that, then what would exist? The mind depends on the condition of that to know or not know an object.

Mind and Consciousness

Always the knowing mind fluctuates; that supreme Consciousness is without change. That is not self-illuminating because it is knowable. At one time both cannot be cognized. Also, if the mind of another were seen by the knower of knowledge there would be endless confusion of memories. The mind assuming that unchanging form, its own consciousness awakens. The seer and the seen conditioning the mind is all objects are. That mind of countless impressions is also for another because its actions are in combination.

Freedom

With distinction between the seer and the Self, the coming into existence of being ceases fluctuating. Then discernment deepens and the mind inclines toward liberation. With a break, cognition makes other impressions. Eliminate their harms as described. Even with the highest knowledge, being disinterested always with discerning knowledge is cloud of virtue absorption. Then harmful actions cease. Then all coverings and imperfections are removed, knowledge is infinite, and what is left to be known is very little. Then with the purpose fulfilled, the transformation sequence of the qualities ends. Moments in an uninterrupted sequence of transformations end with a recognizable progression. Consciousness, with the meanings empty so the modes of nature are returned to their source, is liberation, or, in its own form established is the power of consciousness.
